Module Overview
CST1160 is a course that provides us with knowledge of emerging technology. One area we focus on is the internet of things. The Internet of Things (IoT) is the network of physical devices, vehicles, home appliances, and other items embedded with electronics, software, sensors, and network connectivity that enables these objects to connect and exchange data. The internet of things can be found in many appliances and is growing in many avenues. An example of this is in smart objects. You are able to have smart phones, smart housing, and wearable tech that are all interconnected and provide data amongst each other to make human life easier. The internet of things is also being used in the healthcare industry. It is being used to monitor patients and provide data that can be used to improve their quality of life. In the future, the internet of things will be able to provide even more data that can help improve the quality of life for humans.
This module seems very interesting to me as it enables us to study the effects of emerging technologies in society and evaluate their advantages and disadvantages. The rapid growth in the usage of the internet in recent years has led to the emergence of a number of new technologies that are being used in a variety of ways, which has led to an increase in demand for new technologies. This has therefore led to humans becoming increasingly used to newer technologies to improve society and outgrow the old technologies. The internet has become an integral part of our daily lives, and it has become an important part of our lives.
"The Internet of Things (IoT) describes the network of physical objects that are embedded with sensors, software, and other technologies. Devices range from ordinary household objects to sophisticated industrial tools. Experts expect 10 billion connected IoT devices by 2020 and 22 billion by 2025."
